We've been looking for a long time for a harness that doesn't restrict movement, doesn't put pressure on the neck and is durable as it would need to be washed frequently. After trying five very different harnesses, I was close to giving up as it was obvious that there wasn't a single harness that met our criteria. I gave up the search and drew a pattern to sew a harness while Zach George's tutorial video played in the background. He was demonstrating so I looked up and saw that one of the puppies he was working with was wearing this harness! I had never seen this before and was so impressed with how unobtrusive the harness was and how well it moved with the dog! I was poring over the video description and comments and couldn't find anything, so I went through the video frame by frame and saw Gooby; When received the harness looked and felt very good. No loose threads or frayed/loose edges. We have many Ruffwear products that, in terms of durability and thoughtful design, are far superior to anything else we've owned or seen in person, and like crazy dog people I'd say most of our income (after bills). ) goes to things for our dogs. However, our pup is growing very quickly and I didn't want to spend a rude amount on a harness that will only last a couple of months (although animal shelters do need donations, so if you have any leftover products you're not using please consider making a donation!). A few times a month we hike and kayak with our dogs and they get caught in some abrasive weed that really damaged the previous harnesses and collars. We also live in the middle of a busy city and need harnesses that we can trust to keep our dogs safe. Our pup is severely allergic to grasses and some other plants and needs at least three baths a week to remove these allergens from his coat or he will chew his skin raw. She also spends extra time preparing for home, having learned at the shelter that going to the bathroom is where you sleep and eat. Because of these factors, the dishes need to be washed at least 3 times a week because we wanted her to wear them all the time so that if she shows any signs of needing to leave, we can take her outside immediately. . That's why we wanted a comfortable, unobtrusive suspension. We've tried different designs (step-in/clip-in back, easy walk, t-shirt-like styles with no laces, and styles with a thick front) and they were all awkward or itchy, which made them tough. or they itch all the time. It's a miracle! She doesn't chew on it while it's on (she tried tugging at it while I'm trying to put it on) and unlike the others doesn't seem to bother it at all. breathable and very soft. We bought black which I think was a bad decision for a wet triple digit summer. However, after a 30-minute walk in the evening at 37 degrees Celsius, the laser thermometer only showed a difference of 7 degrees compared to the black bracelet and the white fur next to it. The chest strap is very easy to adjust, which we really appreciate! We went from shortest to longest in five weeks. The non-adjustable part of the neck was a little big for the first week she wore it, but the X design kept her on her shoulders and she couldn't slip out. She's growing like weeds and now she has a place to throw her neck back when she's playing or looking at squirrels mocking her. Now there are a few loose threads from grabbing them with her sharp little needle teeth as she put them on, but the weave of the fabric is such that they won't unravel and are easy to fix. For your information: I am a researcher. I work in a microbiology lab with pathogens that can infect dogs and I sew as a hobby so I'm very picky about clothes in the wash to disinfect them after work and I'm quite familiar with fabric care and quality. I usually soak the dishes with Oxy Clean Max Force to remove spores and allergens and in the past this has often resulted in fading and weakening of the fabrics. I throw the dishes in the wash with my clothes 3-4 times a week and they still look brand new! Except for the D-ring, which has a metallic gray finish. I wish the D ring was silver plated so it doesn't look worn but if that's the only issue we have that says a lot as this pendant went through the ring! The only flaw is the large white Gooby inscription on the back - everyone thinks that's her name. We started calling her Gooby for fun because everyone who meets her says "Hello Gooby". We are so sad that she has completely outgrown this harness and we wish they would make her bigger (please bear that in mind!). We don't even really like our $70 Ruffwear harness because it puts a lot of pressure on our neck when our big guy is lying down and the panels are thick enough to retain quite a bit of heat. It also lost a lot of weight during the chemo and we had to buy a new one as it isn't sufficiently adjustable. I would like to sew my own version, but I don't have the machines that can sew as professionally as this harness. I'll just be crossing my fingers and hoping Gooby decides to expand their size range to include 80lb deep chested dogs! I would highly recommend this harness to anyone and because it is such high quality for a low price I will be including it in the grooming kits I give to friends with new dogs. The pup is like a champ and endures being washed with very hot water up to 3-4 times a week in a "hygiene" cycle that ruins other things. Looks very comfortable (thin, breathable, wide straps so that pressure is not concentrated when restraining), does not restrict the movement of an active puppy, and the back strap has a large adjustment range for dogs to gain or lose weight. This compares to Ruffwear, which in 22 years of dog ownership has become our gold standard for performance and durability. Overall this harness has made puppy training less stressful as it allows us to keep the harness on all the time and is very secure so we didn't have to worry about it slipping out and onto the street.
