Not suitable for use in hardwood as when used with a power drill it will immediately screw into the wood and twist dangerously. While the screw can be removed, the wood may have a tiny tower of wood in place of the screw that needs to be removed with a small stick or similar tool. I bought it thinking it was a Forstner bit but it actually isn't. This can be used by electricians drilling holes in studs when building a house, but not by a furniture maker.
