Nice little screens

Received 3 screens as advertised, each in a tiny protective case. The screens are good, bright, with very rich colors. The video I uploaded makes the colors dull, but they're quite bright when I look at them with my own eyes. I ordered a yellow/blue screen and the thing to note with this screen is that you get the full 128x64 pixels but there is a gap between the yellow and blue parts. So you end up with 128 x 16 yellow pixels at the top and 128 x 48 pixels at the bottom, all usable, with both separated by a gap about 2 pixels wide. As others have pointed out, the address 0x78 is silkscreened on the back of the device. The actual I2C address is 0x3C. 0x78 is 0x3C shifted 1 bit to the left, so i2c addresses are sent on the bus. I don't know why they chose to print the left shifted address instead of the actual address as it just creates confusion as shown in these reviews. head contacts are. Apparently this is a by-product of using solder. I was able to remove it by using some isopropyl alcohol along with an old toothbrush and gently brushing away any remaining flux. All solder joints were fine. One of the 3 screens I received was defective showing erroneous artifacts and all other rows of pixels were unusable. I made a return and replacement request as soon as I found this out and received replacement screens 2 days later (all 3 replacement screens I received worked great, for reference). Now I only have to return three screens before the deadline. A small inconvenience, especially since in the meantime I could at least work with the other two work screens.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
