Review on ❄️ Apex Automotive Winter Windshield Cover: All Vehicles Snow & Ice Shield - No More Scraping! Windproof Magnetic Edges, Frost Guard! by Russell Roberson

The standard size cover is almost perfect for my car but the magnets need to be much stronger

I bought a standard size trunk and it barely fits my 2006 Toyota Camry Solara Convertible. I have two book viewing holes on each side of the top of the windshield on this size, so I probably should have bought a larger size. However, since my car is a convertible, I only have the top of the windshield frame to attach the top magnets to. Other cars at least have a roof, which I don't have. The cover fits snugly and protects the windshield from ice and frost. It is easy to attach to the car and easy to remove. Shaking the lid removes the ice crystals that have formed. Although the plastic is very thin, it does the job. My only complaint is that the magnets aren't strong enough. On moderate to very windy days, the top of the trunk keeps detaching from my car and flips up to reveal 30% of my windshield. Once I transplanted it six times and finally gave up. However, when there is little or no wind, it works like a charm. UPDATE February 23, 2015: Branden Conn, owner of Owner Apex Automotive, contacted me about a magnet issue. They contacted me first before I posted the review to ask if I liked the cover. I replied and then posted my review. He has since responded, and below is his response on magnets. "Our magnets are strong enough to prevent scratches and scuffs from car paintwork. Move it while it is attached and the magnet itself or the sand/dirt between the magnet and the car will act as an abrasive, scratching the paintwork. Our magnets will detach in high winds before this damage can occur. That means, we're always trying to find the perfect balance between them (having a strong hold and avoiding abrasion) so it's great to hear this feedback and I'll pass it along to our design team so we can adjust the strength of the magnet. UPDATE March 2, 2015 - I wore this blanket last night before a snow storm. Although the lid stayed in place I wouldn't do it again. When I removed the cover this morning it was like removing duct tape from the windshield and car because ice had built up under the cover. There must have been some melt leaking from under the lid that caused it. But it's great as antifreeze on the windshield, but I don't recommend leaving it on when it's snowing.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • The list will be long.
