Computer Components First Experience

I decided to use one of these Arducam lenses for the new Pi HQ camera after seeing that the "official" lenses advertised with the camera at launch a couple of weeks ago didn't look like it, as if they would be available at least until the end of June. The lens arrived quickly, well packaged and with all accessories. The only problem I had (which was resolved very quickly by Lee at Arducam after posting on their forum) was a misunderstanding on my part regarding the C-CS adapter feature that came preinstalled on my particular camera. Since this is a CS mount lens, I thought (wrongly) that this adapter was needed to attach it to the camera. It turns out that is NOT the case. Just the opposite. The adapter is ONLY needed if you are using a C-mount lens as it only works like a 5mm spacer and has nothing to do with the lens threads. (It was a bit counter-intuitive and I don't recall any single-lens Arducam documentation, but it is mentioned in the Raspberry Pi HQ camera manual documentation). After figuring it out I was able to focus the lens properly and as they mention in their products "it just works". (I haven't done another review yet to comment on the overall optical quality of the lens, but so far it's looking pretty good). Just make sure you are NOT using the C-CS adapter with this lens and you're good to go.
