Olympus Digital Voice Recorder
I use this device at work to listen to recorded TV shows at other times. I use a cable with 3.5mm plugs on both ends to plug into my TV's headphone jack and record programs while they're on. I also have a cable with a 3.5mm plug on one end and an audio output on the other for recording broadcasts from my DVR, Tivo or VCR. Long speed is almost inaudible, but average speed (16 hours of recording) is pretty good. It's not an iPod, but I only paid about $50 for it and it does the job.
