Let's face it, replacing Toyota cartridge oil filters is inconvenient compared to their old spin-on oil filters. With this tool you simply remove the oil filter housing drain plug and screw the tool to the closed position. Then turn the wheel to open the valve and drain the oil. When the oil stops draining, turn the wheel again to close the valve, remove the tool, and then remove the oil filter housing as usual. With the oil filter housing drained, replacing the oil filter cartridge becomes a lot cleaner. This instrument is well made of heavy brass. My dealer also included two 42" lengths of 1/4" ID clear flexible hose that attaches to the tool to direct oil to the drain pan, further reducing mess.
