I bought this after a bad experience with a USB audio DAC that was too loud. I was a little concerned that it would be cheap or that it would affect the sound quality due to faulty cables, but so far none of that has happened and everything sounds clear. The dial is smooth and convenient to use. I put it next to my desktop keyboard that lacks media controls and it usually makes life more comfortable. It also allowed me to place my left speaker, which houses a volume control and headphone jack, far back on my desk where it's a bit out of reach but sounds better since I don't need to access it. After a while I bought a second one to connect to the TV in the living room. How it works, there are three wires coming out of this thing: a jack end that plugs into whatever speakers you have (so you'll need a jack-to-jack adapter if you don't have one), one to connect the microphone connector. , and the other to connect to the audio connector. On the TV I only need that last wire, so there are two spools of wire that serve no purpose, just kind of lying around, tied in the smallest loop I can. However, when I pull this thing out from behind the TV to play games or watch movies without disturbing the rest of the family, it works pretty well. More importantly, despite being moved frequently, it hasn't yet shown any signs of breaking.
