Sometimes only fhd, sometimes really 4k.

Claims to be exactly what I want, but is frustrating to get it to work properly. I bought the 4k60hz model and like the others it initially only gave me a 1080 Full HD screen on my 4k display from my 4k capable laptop. The laptop said I was connected to something with a display I had fhd which sounds like 1080 to me. It was Kim's ID. The laptop outputs a 4k screen when connected directly to the display. and even the passing 1080 image looked a bit magnified, which is why I lost the Windows taskbar at the bottom, as well as comparable pixels at the sides and top. I found a zoom setting in the display settings that basically got me back to normal, but why double the zoom to something that needs seltzer of it? I asked tech support for help, they said lower the resolution, which is the complete opposite of useful, and I never got a response from them again. So, thumbs down to their customer support team. I'm alone and so are you. I ended up trying to hook up a Blu-ray player with 4k playback through this thing. I finally have a 4k image on my 4k display with this chunky thing. And now, after switching back to my laptop, it's now sending a 4k image too. And sometimes I can stop using the display scaling tool. OK, weird. But my other laptop is now also 4k and the server too. So it can do 4k as advertised. Too bad it's so clunky, undocumented, and frustrating to use. I don't really understand the magic of reverting back to 4k when it decides to switch to feeding, but it seems like enough fiddling to get it working properly again. Works well enough to keep as I don't see an alternative product to trade. But I've actually worked well with this thing and created adequate documentation on how to use it effectively without occasionally messing around with a solution. This thing is a great idea presented in an almost mediocre execution. I want a better alternative.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
