I have a mix of whetstones - diamond, some waterstones and 12000 grit ceramic plus slingshot. I got this 4000 grit as an intermediate between the 1000 and the mediocre 6000 grit that I have. I flattened this shapton before launch just to be sure. I couldn't believe the difference - my chisel looked like I had chromed it and polished it after a few seconds. It's doing a great job - I can see it needs maintenance, but it's clearly worth the extra work. Maybe I'll add a few more of these larger grains in the future.
