Professional Mirror Coated

I purchased this stone as part of my kitchen knife sharpening kit and small collection of folding knives (320 grit Shapton Kuromaku and 1000 grit Shapton Glass). There were no problems with him. hard steel like CPM S30V, gave my knives a professional high gloss finish and a very smooth sharp edge. Your knives glide effortlessly over paper and tomatoes. My new Shapton stones are now replacing my Lansky and KME systems.

Great stone almost too good for the kitchen

The whetstone came out perfectly flat out of the box. Very smooth feel. Cuts fairly quickly, I like the fact that no pre-soaking is required. I could sharpen the blades of my kitchen knives enough to shave the hair off my arms. This stone (4000 grit) is almost overkill for knives that perform standard kitchen functions. The only negative is that the stone is very low. My stone holder barely holds it. I would like the manufacturer to double the thickness of the acrylic base.

Really good whetstone

I have a mix of whetstones - diamond, some waterstones and 12000 grit ceramic plus slingshot. I got this 4000 grit as an intermediate between the 1000 and the mediocre 6000 grit that I have. I flattened this shapton before launch just to be sure. I couldn't believe the difference - my chisel looked like I had chromed it and polished it after a few seconds. It's doing a great job - I can see it needs maintenance, but it's clearly worth the extra work. Maybe I'll add a few more of these larger…

  • Tools and housewares
Cons
  • Some bugs
