I love making cocktails and anything to do with food and drink. I've had a cocktail strainer for 15 years and it serves its purpose perfectly. I bought this Hawthorne cocktail strainer from Top Shelf Bar Supply for a friend who didn't have a strainer. Not wanting to give my friend a poor quality product, I took it to inspect. As soon as I touched it, I knew I wouldn't give it up. I love well made products. The simpler the product, the harder it is to get it right. You did it right. The weight and feel are perfect and it stretches flawlessly. It should be noted that the spring on the sieve is very tight so that the ice splinters do not go through. For most people, and for me in general, that's ideal. In general, you don't want ice cubes in your drink. However, sometimes I want chilled ice in some cocktails. So I'm keeping my old strainer but will be using this one 90% of the time.
