After deciding on a specific surface to work with dough on, I first turned to traditional wood, which I believe has its advantages. I realized that on the large quartz island I work on, it's impossible to hold a plank of wood. Sure, you can get one with a lip, but that only keeps it from sliding backwards, not side to side or forward. This 16 x 26 baking mat stays in place, rolls up for easy storage (comes rolled up in a long square box) and has a handy pie crust size mark. As with all silicone mats, you will need to use a little more flour and be careful with sharp utensils. Thing is, for the price, you can replace this rug 4 or 5 times and still save money compared to a wooden plank.
