I don't like to buy expensive branded filters and I'm always looking for the cheapest filter. My main reason is that I don't know if any of these filters actually filter out all the Cryptospermatous Sporidia crap they claim. How can you know? I've always looked for filters that simply eliminate the chlorine taste. These filters are not true. And it's not a chlorine aftertaste, it's sort of a plastic aftertaste that I've never smelled before from other cheap name brand filters I've bought. I may actually need to do a little more research when I start buying filters because I don't want to pay big brand prices. I used to buy name brand filters and we've been happy, but they've really hit rock bottom. I don't know what that plastic taste is and it's not exactly chlorine and I've never gotten that taste from other brands so I'll just bypass them and switch to another cheaper different brand. Update<<< Even seven months later and going through a series of 3 filters the bad taste is still there. Something between the taste of plastic and bad breath! I can't remember any other filters I've bought, but I definitely can't recommend these. I'm changing my rating to one star because I can't get rid of the bad smell.
