Review on πŸ”§ Accu-Drive Tensioner Assembly by Continental - Model 49246 by Ryan Gilliam

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not impressed with the cost.

Looks damn cool right out of the box. The mold they use for casting must be stamped correctly. It has burrs and sharp edges. The tensioner arm does not work as smoothly as the original part that I am replacing. Feels crushed and full of little fixatives. Also, it doesn't shoot in a straight line. When subjected to a torque, it appears to shift in one direction. I'm replacing the factory tensioner because the pulley has both native bearings shot and it has 220,000 miles on it. The belt started to chirp when shifting at high revs and didn't hold enough tension. This new part came with unnamed bearings in the pulleys, which I believe were made in China. It's IMPOSSIBLE to know more about what you're going to get with aftermarket auto parts. Even what is supposed to be expensive and good does not seem to pass quality control. The fact that this part says "Made in Canada" where most of the parts for this truck were originally manufactured doesn't seem to matter. I was expecting NTN Canadian stock and a better $50 part.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
