We recently switched to Food Runners to support our servers. One of the minor annoyances was having to lug out our old wooden pepper mills with all the salads we sell. Enter the unicorn. We paired this with matching holsters and FR loves them. In fact, servers want to be able to wear them too. They're tough enough for restaurant work BUT you really need to invest in a holster. Putting them in your pockets is unprofessional. Carrying it under your arms is also unhygienic. It's possible to stow them in an apron, but they're not tiny and have enough weight to make this option sort of a half A$$.
