Review on Wireless USB Barcode Scanner: Basecent Handheld Laser Reader for Library Books, Warehouse Inventory & Store by Trevor Garrett

Nice device but not easy to use.

I have several collections that I want to catalog and I bought this device to be able to read and write UPC codes. In that sense, figuring out what to do works well. First, you need to keep the code booklet that came with the device. These codes tell the device what to do. The device is paired with a computer via Bluetooth. Figuring out WHAT to do is harder than figuring out HOW to do it. Instructions are minimal and you may have to head to YouTube or elsewhere on the web to figure out what to do. Connecting to my desktop computer was easy. But I want to catalog my books and my iPad is easy to carry, so I tried to connect this device to my iPad. So far this has not been successful. I've tried scanning many books at once and leaving those part numbers in the device's memory to later download to my desktop, but after a while and before I get to my desktop to download, the device shuts down and data goes lost. . Eventually, with time, patience, and research, I'll make sure everything works the way I want it to. There is potential. Modified 6-9-21 I emailed the company's support center about connectivity issues with my iPad and in less than 24 hours they replied: This device does NOT support Bluetooth. If you want to use it with an iPad/iPhone, you need to buy a Lightning to USB adapter. I made this purchase and connected it to my iPad using the adapter and USB charging cable that came with the scanner. And so! It worked. So to use this with my iPad I would have to use it as a wired device, a minor inconvenience. I suspect you'll need to buy an adapter if you want to use this with an Android device that doesn't have a USB port. I was very pleased that the company responded to my email so quickly and that I was able to use the scanner on the go.
