They say it can last 15 years without changing the battery if they offer Nickel Metal Hydride (Nimh) batteries. The battery life of this type is only 1 year regardless of usage due to battery life. You can't get 15 years, as the company states on its website. Stay away from this product, get the regular ones and just replace them with good old type C batteries. I've bought three of these and they're all only for a year.
