Review on Aims PICOGLF12W12V120AL Inverter Charger Transfer by Charles Alfian

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for keeping the drain pump running during a power outage

Although we have a 12V pump + 100Ah AGM battery in the event of a power outage our finished basement almost flooded when the battery (2 total ) year old) for our 12 volt pump failed during an overnight storm. Luckily we were home and one of my 900 watt pure sine wave computer UPS was willing to sacrifice its life to run a 120 volt pump to save our basement. This Aims unit is much cheaper than the Pump Sentry units you will find and due to its low frequency it is much better suited for running pumps than the high frequency Pump Sentry inverters. 2 AGM 12V 100Ah batteries, 2 battery boxes, added a pair of 18" 4 AWG wires for battery parallel connection. , a pair of 3ft 4 AWG wires to connect the Aims inverter to the battery pack, connected the inverter to the wall , set to 'AGM1', connected the pump to the inverter, switched to 'Low Power Mode' - and you're done. We now have 2 backups. If the power goes out this unit is the first line of defense. The 12v -Pump + 3rd AGM 100Ah battery is the second when the power outage lasts a very long time, or when the 120V pump fails Add something like Level Sense Pro to text and email messages to send when the water level gets too high, and without GE Generator you're as good as it gets.
