I read reviews about many brands of knitting machines. I chose this one because of the great price and the gears were like really expensive gears that had similar reviews. I used to use looms and board knitting machines, so I already knew how it all worked. But this car is amazing! It was easy to assemble. The instructions were pretty easy to understand. For practice, I used the cheap yarn that came with the kit. It worked great. I used all 4 skeins of yarn and sewed the 2 ends together to make it very thick. All 4 strands were of different thicknesses, so you could practice with excitement. Maybe it was beginner's luck, but it worked right out of the box. I will update this review in about a month. I plan to use this LOTS to make hats that I can donate and possibly sell.
