This is a simple stroboscopic pulse generator for stopping the movement of rotating equipment such as spinning car wheels. It works great as advertised. Rotary knobs on the back of the device adjust the flash speed from just under 100 fps to 100,000 fps. FlashesPerMinute are displayed in red in the window above. The flash is not bright enough to be used in moderately bright light let alone sunlight. There is a threaded mounting socket on the bottom that allows you to install the device on a tripod. There is no remote flash control and the flash speed control is very precise but too slow to follow a rotating device changing speed. for example starting a bench grinder. So the StroboTach is what it claims to be, a tachometer, also good for inspection but not very suitable for balancing a spinning wheel-like device.
