We bought this to add extra protection to our apartment and were very disappointed after it kept slipping on our hardwood floors during repeated burglary attempts. We thought maybe it's just a doorknob and the device isn't firmly attached to the door/floor, no. We've routed it to other doors in the apartment (with round handles) and still got the same result. This prevents the door from opening on the first try, but allows for a little effort and the foot will slip on each attempt. The end result was a successful login every time. We measured the length of the foot from the door according to the instructions, the result is the same. This does not mean that the device is not working. It might have been the type of floor we have (wooden top) as the leg kept slipping/won't stay in place, but in this case the manufacturer should advertise which floors the unit is best suited for.
