The thing works great!

My daughter is a sophomore in college and in the current dorm she and her roommate share a bathroom with the roommate next door. But they don't really know their "bathroom" neighbors, so they use it to keep the bathroom door locked during the day when they're not in the room and at night when they're sleeping. Very easy to set up, the only catch is that you can't use it if there is a mat in front of the bathroom door. Several other parents we met the day we moved in saw us parading with it andโ€ฆ

Great investment: personal protective equipment

I bought two for the front and rear doors. It works great if you get the device as close to the door frame as possible. For my door next to the tile floor, I set the device very close to the door. I had to constantly adjust the length of the unit and try to open the door, and I eventually got the unit to the point where the door doesn't open at all when tested. Adjusted the door next to the carpet to be slightly longer than the front door latch. The closer you bring the bar to each door, theโ€ฆ

VERY secure security bar but other issues

The item advertised does NOT have a siren but the bar is really awesome. The rod will need to be modified by drilling holes in it and inserting a pin from a local hardware store. My 130 lb child was able to force the door open and the adjustment knob on the steering wheel failed and got pinched between two sleeves. In other words, if you really need security, this can work IF the person trying to break into your home is a child. But. If you are looking for a really good bar then this is it! PSโ€ฆ

Frustrated with the personal protective equipment

We bought this to add extra protection to our apartment and were very disappointed after it kept slipping on our hardwood floors during repeated burglary attempts. We thought maybe it's just a doorknob and the device isn't firmly attached to the door/floor, no. We've routed it to other doors in the apartment (with round handles) and still got the same result. This prevents the door from opening on the first try, but allows for a little effort and the foot will slip on each attempt. The endโ€ฆ

Ideal for protecting windows and sliding glass doors, but.

Not sure I would trust it to block the door (I would use the buddybar for this as it is a heavier all metal construction). I really trust Saber to block a window or sliding glass door track (assuming the track is in your house, of course). For those purposes, this is a solid four star product. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the little metal pin you put in the pre-drilled holes to adjust the bar length is a royal pain. After inserting everything is fine. Assuming you always
