Review on Mishimoto MMRAD-WRA-87 Performance Aluminum Radiator for Jeep Wrangler YJ/TJ 1997-2006: Enhance Cooling Efficiency and Performance by Brian Evans

Very disappointed and very disappointed

As a newbie in car modification, I believe brand reputation attracts customers, this reputation comes from initially high quality products. This purchase has not been made. This is the second cooler I've bought from Mishimoto and I have to say that the stock cooler that was 15 years old and had 100,000 miles performed better than this new "efficient cooler". First, the quality of the welds on this cooler was sub-par, they urged me to fill the gaps in the welds myself when I originally checked the cooler for leaks (there were 4 of them). Where I have this gear, most people don't keep $5,000 worth of welding gear handy. Second, such products should not require any significant modifications to fit your vehicle. The cooler is made specifically for a Jeep of the same model and engine, but designed for an automatic transmission as the cooler has connections for the transmission intercooler lines. This would not be an issue if the product were simply covered with appropriate materials to seal these ports, which is not the case. In addition, this product contains useless parts that can be included in any matching Jeep model. As two sets of metric and SAE fittings. Fit metric only, not sae, remove this part, give manual transmission owners o-ring bolts to seal the transmission cooler connections. Eventually the original cooler, which had no problems, which I wanted to retrofit, proved to be more efficient than this new cooler on a steeper engine. The claim that this would improve efficiency by 20% was far from the truth. My engine with the original radiator was running at 195, now I see a constant temperature of 210. This is very annoying considering the claims of this product. this product that does not meet the specified requirements

Pros

Cons
