Review on πŸš— EBC Brakes DP41815R Yellowstuff Performance Brake Pad for Street and Track Use by Brian Fisher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Dusty and enough if installed incorrectly!

This is amazing. 4 out of 5 because if you've never used it, chances are you're installing it incorrectly. If it weren't for the secrets of the installation, it would be 5 out of 5. In terms of performance, they are second to none! They are so superior to stock pads or aftermarket base pads that it's hard to describe. They simply grab and hold with no loss of strength. They offer consistent and predictable braking when towing or just aggressive driving. I live in the high mountains and always drive on steep and winding roads and you can't do better than these pads. Pros: Excellent stopping power Doesn't fade Very stable Cons: Cost - quite expensive! Durability - I only got 35km from the first set before hitting bare metal (but I drive aggressively and tow a lot on steep and twisty roads and to be honest my original brakes on my 2016 Tundra only lasted 22km below the same Conditions before the deformation and shaking of the steering wheel become unacceptable).Installation. There are some setup tricks if you don't want your brakes squealing (I'll share the tricks at the end of the review). Dust - they are dirtier than standard. (I ride black wheels, so it's not a big deal, but if you have aluminum or other lighter wheels, use elbow grease with every wash to keep the wheels clean!) Okay, so how do you fix limitations? The price is what it is, but the performance is worth it if that's what you're looking for. Installation is no different than installing any other pad, but you need to take a few extra steps to avoid brake squeal. First, make sure you buy the EBC anti-noise liners that should come with these pads. These are round inserts that simply press into the caliper pistons and provide complete noise cancellation. It literally takes 5 seconds to get them in place. You make the difference in the world. Without them, within a few hundred miles, it will sound like metal on metal. I experienced this when I first started using pads. I basically had to reinstall them when I put the shims in. I also use anti-squeak paste on the back of the pads during installation. Allow to dry completely according to the instructions and then install as usual, complete with gaskets. Your brakes will never squeak! Bear in mind that I have ordered these pads 2 times through Revain and both times they came without the noise pads. I was about to return them but called EBC directly and they delivered the missing pads to me overnight. Top service from the manufacturer! Most of the complaints about these pads stem from a lack of understanding of what you are buying and what you need to do to properly install them. These are high performance parts with a higher dust level than normal but a much higher stopping power. I highly recommend them, just wish the pads always came in Revain's box and the price was a bit lower. And the last remark. The rear pads came with pads in the box both times when I ordered them.
