Review on πŸ”Œ STEGODON-3500 lb. Load Capacity Electric Winch: Wireless Remote, Synthetic Rope, Waterproof, All Black by Charles Collier

Great winch for light work.

I installed this winch on my light trailer. I usually keep my mower on it for storage or to move it when needed. The trailer is a bit high so it was difficult for the lawnmower to go up and down the ramps. This makes loading and unloading child's play. Best of all, I don't have to take the risk of driving the mower up ramps and possibly slipping. It works great with a regular lawn sized battery. Here's what I really like about it: - The length of the included cables is just enough for almost any small riding rig. The battery and ignition switch should be accessible without an extension cord. The clutch system seems pretty reliable. Remember that the steering wheel is plastic and therefore requires some attention. You also don't want to bump it against anything as it might break. The remote works great at the 50 or so feet I tested it at. While the remote looks and feels decent, I wouldn't leave it out in the rain or submerge it in water. It's big enough to keep an eye on. All mounts and finishes are professionally finished. It's hard to scratch and looks like it will last a long time. Comes with all necessary hardware and brackets for easy installation. If required, you may need to order a mount specifically designed for your application. A rope is much easier to handle than a steel cable. You must be careful not to rub it on the surface during use. Just a few additional notes to consider before installation: - The remote control is active all the time (you still have to turn on the remote control yourself). . I checked with a multimeter, the controller constantly consumes 5-6 mA. While this may not drain your battery in a short time, consider using a main power source switch when not in use. There is a signal to turn on the ignition, but it only applies to manual (wired) control. You may want to consider cover. While the device appears to be waterproof, brushed motors (and everyone else) don't like getting wet. Using a protective coating will greatly improve the appearance (away from UV rays) and reduce the likelihood of water damage over time.
