Review on ESD High ๐Ÿ”ฅ Temperature Mat Kit from Bertech by Christopher Bates

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Functional but slightly imperfect rug

This item comes in different sizes so first let me say that I have 18" x 30" with 0.08" thickness. Actually I'm the first one Times in electronics repair and I have 2 phones that I would like to have repaired. Received this today and saw an error so wanted to give a review right away. Good things first. This is a good thickness. It feels solid, it lays down quite well and you can see the two layer design which makes it look spectacular based on what I would expect from a rug like this. The sizing is really good too.I can only imagine you'll need more when you use it to repair computers.I like having lots of space so this size is great for phone repairs.I wouldn't go smaller or bigger. It also comes with an arm band and a wire to connect the mat to ground, also known as a screw in a socket. Now for the bad in case I missed something. There are metal pieces at each top end of the mat so you can attach a ground wire. I forgot what they call the type of clip used, but there is no locking or screwing feature so the clip isn't really a clip. He doesn't even lean on it because the weight of the wire will roll the clip off the piece of metal, even though they appear to be designed to fit inside each other. It's weird and I have to put weight on the clamp to hold it. . Disappointing. However, as a hobbyist I wanted something useful without spending a lot of money and I'm not sure if other similarly priced rugs are any better.
