Excellent price. Finally the DVD recorder replaces the VHS recorder for the price. Recording from analogue or digital (Firewire) devices. First, good. The DVD recorder works well. Automatic chapter marking. The TV tuner has an automatic search and a clear window function, where you can see the scanned channels in a window from the setup menu. Has progressive output even for TV signals. Many entrances. RCA in front, FireWire in front, S-Video in back. Has 16-9 and 4-3 sockets. 4 recording speeds/quality: from 6 hours (mpeg1 352x288) to 1 hour (mpeg2 720x576) Dolby Digital and DTS. MP3, JPEG, VCD, Super VCD playback. Next is not very good. The recorder must be powered off and on again to 'erase' the recording settings. The board is very weak. You must aim directly at the recorder. The RCA video output does not work. although they have a yellow plug and it's the only cord you get (at least not mine). The instructions state that only one output device will be output, which you select in the setup menu. There are three options: S-Video, Component and Progressive (no RCA). Switching the output is a bit fiddly. If you do this, the output you are using will be blank leaving a black screen and you will need to select 'OK' after 10 seconds. or it switches back.
