I've been thinking about a Mesh Wi-Fi system to replace my Apple router with a single extender that could provide intermittent internet speeds around the house . With a 200Mbps wired input, I've had places in my house as low as 17Mbps, although I've seen wireless speeds of 230Mbps closest to my router. After weeks of reading specs and reviews of cellular Wi-Fi systems from all the major brands, I decided to give this TP-Link Deco system a try. Setting up the TP-Link Deco M9 was pretty easy and required downloading an app to my iPhone. , and about 30 minutes to place and connect devices, first to my modem and then to the Deco Hub router's Wi-Fi signal. I first noticed some signal drop issues on the M9 satellites after connecting to the M9 hub router. After downloading two firmware updates, this problem disappeared. I then started testing internet speeds in all parts of my house, indoors and out, running from room to room where I always had a signal, but the speeds varied wildly, from 230 Mbps to 30 Mbps more remote locations and in my outdoor areas, living areas furthest from the M9 hub router. After sleeping through this dilemma, I realized that when moving I need to be sure which M9 device I'm connected to; and I noticed a slight lag when connecting my iPhone to a nearby M9 device. In the end, that gave me the answer. After retesting moving from room to room, I made sure to switch my iPhone's wireless connection to the nearest M9 before running internet speed tests. Once I did this, speeds in all parts of my house exceeded 100Mbps, and most rooms ranged from 150Mbps to 230Mbps. Even on my back porch and screened in porch, internet speeds were over 150 Mbps. Only one area had issues and that was an outdoor test in the back corner of my house, one floor down and 40 feet on the other side of one Cliff face away from nearest M9. When selecting this system, I also found that some devices require different bandwidth rates and this can cause problems when running multiple devices with specific bandwidth requirements. Although I haven't tested it yet, I see that the DECO M9 app allows you to select the lane speed depending on the device. Something remarkable. Overall I give this product two thumbs up for a very reasonable price. So far very happy with this purchase.
