I got my first bonsai tree for my birthday and I didn't know everything about it yet. I found this kit and it seemed to have all the basics to get started with. I transplanted my tree and tried my Planters' Choice bonsai grow kit and it worked great. The angle of the tweezers makes it easier to pluck brown bits in hard-to-reach places. Secateurs work better than my regular grass shears as they are smaller and better suited to a small bonsai. I followed the directions I found online and used a root rake to gently scrape the soil off the roots so it was clean as I put it into the new potting soil. Not sure what the 4th tool does, but several websites state that chopsticks are required. It can replace this need. Overall I'm very happy with my Planter's Choice kit and I think my little bonsai tree is too. I look forward to spending lots of time raising him. This set is particularly suitable for beginners.
