A few installation notes.

This product really works. Some preparation is required. After your original grip broke off, there will be a remnant of the plastic grip around the cable. My guess is that the original was made in one piece and the handle assembly was attached with heat or glue. You will need to grind down this plastic around the perimeter of the cable to fit the new grip. You can use a Dremel type rotary tool with a drum sander attachment to do this. I was able to pull and hold the cable far enough to do this with a pair of needle nose clips. The new handle has 2 small set screws. The kit includes a hex key for tightening. I have a feeling the screws are not as precise as they should be. They seem a little wobbly. In other words, the threads on the handle and screws are not as good as they should be. They should also be slightly longer than they are. I used a drop of blue THREADLOCKER

Pros
  • Anti-oxidation, anti-corrosion. The updated version is not easy to break.
Cons
  • Expensive.
