Review on Genie 7055-KV Garage Door Opener, Black by Bryan Crayton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It opens the door, it closes the door and it's mostly quiet.

Replaced one of our 14 year old Genie screw drive with this. It's so much quieter even though the chain slaps the rail for the first few feet of opening the door. If I'd known about the chain slap, I'd have bought the belt version for a few bucks more but I figured the chain would last longer. but the chain is super cheap quality so there is that. There aren't any specs for speed that I could find on this model but it's faster than our screwdrive was. Noice.Setting close and open stop points was super simple, bravo.Programming remotes and the built-in controllers in our cars was easy but occasionally my truck's can't won't close the door for some reason. I keep one of the remotes that came with the opener in the console just in case this happens because I'm too lazy to get out and use they keypad.I was able to use the controller in the garage from the old opener, which is nice because it matches the controller that operates the screwdrive that's still working on the 3rd bay door. Can't have mismatched controllers, that'd be just silly.

Pros
  • ‎2 Bulb Lighting - 60 Watt equivalent each - Recommended use of Genie LED Garage Door Opener bulbs
Cons
  • The opener may make a lot of noise, which can be disruptive to people nearby or sleeping in your home
