Genie 7055-KV Garage Door Opener, Black Review

Installed myself, everything went well per the step by step directions. I was a little worried programming would require some time but they made it really idiot proof, reading how to do it took about 15 seconds.And I have a big (16ft) heavy door and this handles it fine, nice and quiet and smooth. Now if the thing holds up everything is good.

I have 16 ft x 8 ft solid wood sectional garage door that just made my old 1/2 hp worm drive opener rattle and groan, this 3/4 hp chain drive is quieter and smoother and opens the door with ease. It was fairly simple to install and program, an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

Took about two hours to install. I was able to use same mounts as old one which made it easier. Working great so far. Thanks for attention.

The opener is quiet! I have a double, insulated (heavy) metal door and there is almost no sound when the motor operates. The instructions are very easy to understand, all the parts are bagged in color-coded bags that match the color-coded instructions (use the green bag of parts for this step). The only drawback we found is with the battery backup. There are no instructions on how to attach it. It seemed like we did it correctly, but to confirm, we searched YouTube on the install of the battery

was impressed by how quiet this opener is, however i dont think the wiring directions are correct and naturally had to use the directions on how to program and adjust the door down tension, other than that a few beers and about an hour it was up and running, i have a second door and will probably buy this again just because its quiet and now i know how to set it up, next one will only be a single beer project so i will make sure to bring home a 32oz one

Replaced one of our 14 year old Genie screw drive with this. It's so much quieter even though the chain slaps the rail for the first few feet of opening the door. This opener is very quite for being chain driven not like older chain drive models,(I hear more noise from the rollers than I do from chain if any). The remotes are programmed right out of the box and the opening and closing height are easily adjusted. The only issue I found is that the door (even with 8ft extension kit) hangs few inches below threshold and cannot go any higher and you can see bottom of door. This opener goes beyond my expectations and it is extremely quite! The only thing I would have done differently would be to install a wire for electronic eyes thru the main support tube as the sections are being assembled. The instructions say to run the wire on top of the ceiling, but my old wire ran along top of the opener slider-rail, because it was a screw drive the top was open. Genie has an online video that walks you through the install step by step. Super easy to follow. I can’t believe how quiet it is. You can’t hear it opening or closing from inside the house, and two bedrooms have common walls with the garage. I have a full size insulated garage door that’s very heavy. This 3/4 HP motor handles it like nothing. Highly highly recommend it.

I thought I bought the belt model but got the chain style instead. It’s in my detached garage so noise isn’t too crucial. The company has a very good online installation video. Will buy the belt model for my other door next spring.
