Review on Efficient Aquarium Phosphate Remover: Ecological Labs AEL20217 Microbe Lift, 32oz by Jenny Davis

My 1525 gallon koi pond tested 5ppm for phosphate. Which, according to most sources, is too high for both plants and fish. After researching this product and reading many online reviews, I realized I had found a good solution. 16 ounces added to first dose. The first big problem was that the water immediately became very cloudy. (before adding this material my pond was crystal clear and almost algae free) Minimal change in phosphate levels the next day. Followed directions and added another 16 oz. Now the water is really very cloudy. You can't see the bottom or the fish. I waited a week and checked almost every day. Phosphate is still at 4 ppm. Added another 16 ounce dosing sequence over two days. The water is very cloudy. Now, three days later, the phosphate level has dropped to 2.5-3.0 ppm. So 10 days and $32 later I still have high phosphate levels and the water looks like someone poured 10 gallons of milk into a pond. I am not satisfied and will probably not use this product again.
