Review on Kenda Commuter Recumbent Bicycle Pressure by Randy Holt

TURN A MOUNTAIN BIKE INTO A ROAD WARRIOR

I love these tires. I've used 26 x 1.95 Kenda K838 tires in the past, they've been good if a little heavy. They also made my ride a bit slower due to the large ground contact area. They had an amazing profile but I chose these 26x1.5 tires to gain some speed and shed some weight. Let me say these tires did just that. My ride is much quicker, albeit a bit bumpier, just because they have higher pressure. I run them at about 50psi which is half the recommended pressure just because my bike pump can't run that high haha. My goal was to turn my mountain bike into something of a road machine, and the closest I got was a hybrid bike that I'm happy with. The only thing I will say is that there is no way you can go to the muddy muddy area with them and if you do you better take your bike off and just walk it to the other end. Had a bad fall trying to get through the mud not to mention the tires looked like crap (I've cleaned them now). They have no grip in the mud and slide everywhere, but on the road they brutally handle sharp turns and hold up pretty well on any dry surface, even gravel or dry grass (maybe) kept the tags because I'll probably buy them again when I get a new bike. Recommended for anyone who is looking for a necessarily faster ride (not smoother)

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Non automatic
