I was playing around the other day and needed a pair of scissors - but I was in the backyard and the closest scissors were in my tool box in the basement. I didn't even have a pair in the garage. I ordered a pair of Stanley FatMax 9 7/8" straight shears based on the price, reviews, and the name "Stanley". (Not that "Stanley" means "Infallible," but I recognize the name, what is a plus for me.) Stanley offers a limited lifetime warranty on this unit. Stanley works as advertised; when I got them I tried them on various parts and they just fit in my tool bag - the one with the 'regular' Repair and insertion tools. I like the locking mechanism and it can be unlocked with one hand. Speaking of hands, the Stanley has a very good set of handles that should give your hands (YMMV) enough comfort when trimming longer jobs. EDIT 18/ 7/16: With additional use, I've found that it's entirely possible to pinch your hand when using FatMax.Adjusting the grip can help avoid pinching, but I had the Ge feel I should mention this issue. Not a tool I'll use every day, but at least I have cheaper scissors now. Toolboxes are great, but only if you're near them when you need a tool.HTHRC Regards, Jim.
