The seller put the metal plate in the same plastic bag as the nuts and u-bolt so friction from loose parts caused the black paint to chip off the metal plate. So be ready to buy some black paint to touch up the corners if you don't want the metal plate outside to rust. That's one star minus. I threw away the 1/2" flat washer, lock washer and nut because they are zinc. Zinc does not rust but will eventually corrode under the influence of outside elements. I went to Laws and bought stainless steel 1/2" flat washer (41 cents each), lockwasher (39 cents each), and locknut (69 cents each) = $3.22. Homey Depot doesn't sell 1/2" stainless steel locknuts for some reason. It would be nice if the seller sent stainless steel instead of cheap parts. The seller only supplied cheap zinc nuts, not a good stainless steel lock. Locknuts (also minus 1 star for that), therefore you may need to use locknuts to prevent the nuts from loosening from the U-bolt.Stainless steel is better suited in wet marine conditions.The nylon sleeve inside prevents them from loosening which is very important when using this plate used to lock the hitch when driving over rough terrain or ghetto streets.The booklet that comes with it has clear instructions with pictures and I love that the U-bracket has a protective polyurethane cover to protect it prevent him from scratching the clutch paint tr I drove through ghetto streets with potholes, freeways and some wooded lanes with no noise, so a big compliment and 3 stars for that.
