This thing is so cool

I would buy this if I were you. I've just moved onto a boat and wanted to keep an eye on CO levels. This item is exactly what I wanted. I've run it several times and even cooked with an aerated boat. The things you consider a problem aren't really the same as engine exhaust filling the cabin (a problem for other reasons). But innocent cooking can raise CO levels to dangerous levels. Would never have known without this thing. We left a small alcohol burner simmering with limited ventilation while we showered on the jetty for 20 minutes and when we came back the alarm went up to 10ppm - not cool but not unexpected. Using a blast pot (butane) for a few minutes, even with good ventilation, raises it to a very high level. As well as during evacuation from the cabin. The propane burner doesn't seem to be a problem at all, but I've only tried it with good ventilation. Awareness at these levels is serious peace of mind even if you don't live on a boat. If only someone would do something for intelligent mold tracking? The only complaint about it is that I haven't heard the beep yet. It only flashes red when the levels are dangerous. Which is fine for my purposes as I keep an eye on it while the flame burns - I will not sleep anywhere with an open fire. However, if you expect to be woken up by an audible alarm, you probably need a regular home alarm.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Some imperfections
