I have been using Melitta cone filters in various coffee machines for over 30 years and in my opinion this is the best brewing method there is. So I expected more from this Melitta car. I find it difficult to fill without spilling, hard to see the water level in the clear window, and it brews decidedly weak coffee. Adjusting the "brew strength" makes no noticeable difference. The grinder basket seems too small for the Melitta filter cones, which wrinkle because they don't sit smoothly and can fold over the ground material when wet. Compared to my defunct, lamented Krups brewery (a model that is sadly no longer made), this Melitta machine requires significantly more ground coffee per cup, much finer ground, to brew a decent cup of coffee. However, it will produce decent coffee if the grind is fine enough. Get ready to experiment and increase your coffee bean intake. And it's fast, so here's the thing. Aesthetically, I personally find this car much more striking than in photos of it, which tend to show it from an angle that minimizes its frontal visual impact. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but viewed from the front, this coffee maker appears to be the love fruit of Robbie the Robot and Star Wars Stormtrooper.
