Review on 🌬️ Gallon Indicating Silica Desiccant Replacement: Keep Moisture at Bay by Richard Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great bang for your buck.

This is a great deal on a silica desiccant. It works well and comes well packaged and sealed. I've used it a bit and it works as intended and changes color when exposed to moisture. It can be easily recharged by placing it in a drying oven. I have successfully charged it at 45C for several hours. Of course, the higher the temperature you use, the less time it takes. The beads are much larger than other beads I have used. They are about 1/8" in diameter, while most of the others I've used are about 1/16" in diameter. For my use this is not a problem. I use it to keep my 3D printing filament dry and it works great. The color change makes it easy to see if the thread needs drying or not. If you need a desiccant, this is a great material. The device comes with a warning label stating that the cobalt compound used for the blue dye is a suspected carcinogen, but notes that it has been used successfully by the military for over 100 years without issue. An orange desiccant is also recommended as an alternative.
