Review on 🐱 Big Flap Cat by Michelle Ramanath

I bought "Big Cat The cat flap for big cats". I wanted it for easy installation on the inside door where we keep cat food and trays. Our goal was to keep the dog out. First. To give you an idea of me, I do all my home repairs, big and small. I have also worked for family and friends. I rarely buy anything I can't figure out and install in a reasonable amount of time. I'm no genius, but I consider myself pretty skilled. This is the WORST product I have ever had the misfortune to install. I read a review online written by another frustrated customer that said something along the lines of "It took him six hands to install". I agree with him. I wish I had read this before buying this unit but I bought it from Lowe's. Not only is it poorly designed, it's also a weak product. The frame (and I use the term loosely) is cheap plastic. I can't imagine how ANYONE would want to use this block on their front door unless they want all sorts of bugs to get in, wind howling through a flimsy door with no seals etc. I've measured 3 times and cut once. to make sure it was done right. I laid out the template and taped it to the door using my sonic cutting tool to ensure accuracy. I needed someone to help me hold the flimsy plastic collar in place while he put it back together. I tried it upright, but then removed the door and put it on a bench for better control. After we both wrestled with this, I finally taped the block together with painter's tape and then cut it after it was installed. "Manual" is a hole cutting template with small diagrams showing how to install it. That should have been my hint. It really doesn't fully explain how to do the Houdini action of assembling this thing. I cursed this thing with no assembly. Not only did the installation take some time, it also didn't work properly. I ended up breaking the latches on the swinging door so the cats could roam freely without the door because my dog would never fit through the hole anyway. I'm not the type of person who only complains about products or services. I always take the time to give credit when necessary, but you really need to stay away from this product. I didn't dare sign up for the guarantee. If it breaks at all, I just rip it off and throw it away. I'm going to make a wooden frame for the hole, which is what I should have done from the start. I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone. Oh by the way. I called their "expert" support team for help. The woman didn't even understand what I was talking about. She said she had to put me on hold "...while she went to the warehouse to find him." She never returned to the phone, and I ended up getting disconnected. When I tried to call back I couldn't get through at all. I would even say that you might want to think twice before buying anything from this company after they handled a customer service call. I don't want to buy something expensive from them and deal with that person. in summary. If you run a competition and ask engineers to design the WORST cat door, you win first prize.
