Now I have both 10x42 and 10x25 and can compare them somewhat. 10x42 is definitely bulkier. Both have the same magnification, but the 10x42 has a wider field of view. The wider field of view is probably worth it if you want to see the solar corona at a glance instead of moving 10x25. A nice feature of the 10x42 is the extra lens caps. I've noticed that since the 10x25 lens doesn't have caps, dust, lint, and oil collect much more easily. Of course you can easily erase it, but the lens cap helps a lot at 10x42. After several days of continuous monitoring of the sun, the 10x42 image was good. The sun is white with a completely darkened sky. 10x25 looks the same, if a bit blurry. A simple wipe will do better, but lens cleaner sure works. That's the most annoying. Both 10x42 and 10x25 are good for travel. I would say 10x42 is about the size of a large bound book. 10x42 comes with a carry case with a small shoulder strap. The 10x25 has a drawstring for a neck strap. If price and size are not an issue, I would recommend 10x42. Both are good for travel and easily fit in my luggage bag as I will be flying to find a good spot to watch the eclipse.
