Works as advertised - prepare to learn

I bought these binoculars to have something portable to move around on eclipse day. The binoculars work as advertised and provide good magnification of the sun - just enough to see the sunspots clearly. I also purchased a Celestron EclipSmart 50 Solar Telescope and found that while this device is less portable and slower to set up, it is much easier to use. Pros: + Strong and heavy construction. + Compact, extremely portable. + Provides magnification as advertised. .+ Tip of good length. Cons…

Excellent budget solution for solar observing

I bought the 10x25mm variant of these binoculars partly for the upcoming eclipse and partly to observe the sun at a different time. They work like any other binoculars and are very portable. Keep in mind that the fairly small lens can make finding the sun a bit tricky, as until you find the sun everything you see is black. As soon as you do this, the sun becomes a white disk. If you're planning on getting them for an eclipse, I recommend practicing with the full sun a few times to get a feel…

Great binoculars and easy to use.

These binoculars are GREAT! They are well made and easy to use. They are constructed in the same way as normal binoculars. They have a focus knob in the center and a diopter adjustment on one of the eyepieces. The width can also be adjusted depending on the interpupillary distance. The instructions describe the assembly and use of the binoculars. The solar filters are located inside the binoculars and are therefore protected from damage. They are COMPLETELY black when you look through them…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Good product: binoculars and scope

Now I have both 10x42 and 10x25 and can compare them somewhat. 10x42 is definitely bulkier. Both have the same magnification, but the 10x42 has a wider field of view. The wider field of view is probably worth it if you want to see the solar corona at a glance instead of moving 10x25. A nice feature of the 10x42 is the extra lens caps. I've noticed that since the 10x25 lens doesn't have caps, dust, lint, and oil collect much more easily. Of course you can easily erase it, but the lens cap helps…

Inexpensive, compact and powerful binoculars for solar observation.

I am preparing for the upcoming eclipse so I decided to add these binoculars to my inventory. I am very happy with the performance of the 10x25 pair. They offer adequate resolution, and the 10x magnification provides a much more satisfying view of the sun than basic eclipse glasses. To feel this, you need to know that the sun occupies about half a degree of the sky. A 10x magnification increases this to about 5°. If you extend two fingers at arm's length, the width of those fingers is about 5°.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Repair

Become a superhero watching the sun and add it to your belt!

As an education PR professional, I needed to prepare for the Great American Solar Eclipse this August and was looking for as many PR tools as possible that were lightweight and easy to use. The Celestron EclipSmart 10x25 solar binoculars definitely meet this requirement. The binoculars are very well made with a sturdy metal construction and rubberized case to keep them cool even during long periods of solar observation. The optics are exceptionally sharp and clear. With no visual reference to…

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

After playing around with both these Celestron 10x42 goggles and some of the nicer plastic framed Eclipse goggles we have Solar Eclipse Goggles - Plastic - 2pcs. prescription glasses), I think I would prefer these binoculars to Eclipse glasses for viewing the sun. Looking back at anything other than the sun with eclipse goggles is no fun (for the obvious reason they cover everything but the sun). When observing the sun, I found the sidelight quite annoying due to the small eyecups, as others…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list goes on.

The quality of the Celestron EclipSmart 10x42 Solar binoculars is exceptional. The sun is focused in a very sharp sphere and is almost natural in color (only slightly bluish); The optics are excellent, which is what I would expect from a Celestron product. Although I bought binoculars for the 2017 solar eclipse, these binoculars are also useful before and after an eclipse. If you are interested in sun gazing all year round, this is the cheapest way to observe the sun. Advantages: - Excellent…

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models
