great binoculars, add soft binocular cases for better use, practice aiming before eclipse.

After playing around with both these Celestron 10x42 goggles and some of the nicer plastic framed Eclipse goggles we have Solar Eclipse Goggles - Plastic - 2pcs. prescription glasses), I think I would prefer these binoculars to Eclipse glasses for viewing the sun. Looking back at anything other than the sun with eclipse goggles is no fun (for the obvious reason they cover everything but the sun). When observing the sun, I found the sidelight quite annoying due to the small eyecups, as others have pointed out. Alpine Innovations Mens Bino Bandit Binocular Cover, Stealth Shadow, One Size or Bino Bandit - Waterproof binocular eyecups to block glare and reduce eye strain - Alpine Mountain Camo They are much more comfortable than rubber eyecup extensions/eyecups and offer a much better Perfomance. better. I've tried a couple of these extensions/goggles (these are: AmScope EG-SM Microscope Eye Shield or Eye Shield) and the problem, as many others have pointed out, is that the extensions have an asymmetric rim that rotates with the diopter and is difficult or unadjustable when the right eye is in focus. The Bino Bandit binoculars are soft and very comfortable and work very well with prescription glasses. Holding these 10x42 binoculars in my hand during the test run was surprisingly easy, but I also received a tripod mount: a Celestron 93524 Binocular Tripod Adapter (black) that screwed easily into the binoculars. hinge point. Let's see how it works during a solar eclipse. I also agree with many of the other reviewers of this and Lunt's sunshade binoculars (Sunoculars-Red with 8x magnification compared to the Eclipse goggles) that observing the sun takes some practice and care needs to be taken to keep your retinas clear when you are shooting Looking at will not know. I think most people won't stare at the sun long enough to actually damage their eyes when they find the sun, but even if there's no danger, it means the white spot on the retina needs time to close fade before you get the best view of The sun. It's tiresome to pay attention to the sun when purple spots dance around your central field of vision. So your best bet is to locate the sun, find the correct bearing and position your body perfectly in line with the sun, get the binoculars at an approximate height without bringing them *not* to your eyes, and to get an idea of where the sun is in first place. Then look down, bring the binoculars to your eyes and swipe up at the correct altitude to find the sun.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list goes on.
