As an education PR professional, I needed to prepare for the Great American Solar Eclipse this August and was looking for as many PR tools as possible that were lightweight and easy to use. The Celestron EclipSmart 10x25 solar binoculars definitely meet this requirement. The binoculars are very well made with a sturdy metal construction and rubberized case to keep them cool even during long periods of solar observation. The optics are exceptionally sharp and clear. With no visual reference to be seen when using binoculars, new users can find it difficult to find the sun the first few times, but once you've given them ergonomic advice it becomes second nature. After my eye surgery I was happy. to see that these binoculars have center focusing with diopter compensation on the right eye. I was able to adjust the focus to get a nice sharp image and was able to see medium to large sunspots with ease... We just need more! While the binoculars work fantastically, there are a few things I didn't really like. and will likely be incorporated into future models: β’ Since they are designed for observing the sun, they would be much better if they had deeper or adjustable eyecups. Many beginners look at their own reflection first because light can still seep in at the ends. β’ The thin rope neck strap is not easy to replace and would be better suited to a more elaborate detachable system. β’ Celestron should have taken advantage of the distinctive orange color and made these binoculars orange instead of black to distinguish them from solar binoculars. People watching you might assume you're using regular binoculars and try to mimic these actions with their own gear without noticing the difference. All that said is a definite plus and I look forward to buying more for coverage as we get closer. until August. The price makes it easily accessible, while the compact size and included carrying case make it portable and accessible at all times. Thanks Celestron for another great product.
