These binoculars are GREAT! They are well made and easy to use. They are constructed in the same way as normal binoculars. They have a focus knob in the center and a diopter adjustment on one of the eyepieces. The width can also be adjusted depending on the interpupillary distance. The instructions describe the assembly and use of the binoculars. The solar filters are located inside the binoculars and are therefore protected from damage. They are COMPLETELY black when you look through them unless you are facing the sun. Finding the sun requires you to somehow scan the sky, but once you find it, it resolves the sun disk well. My only suggestion for Celestron is to make the eyecups a bit larger. I found myself crossing my arms around the eyepieces to keep the sun out of my field of view. It doesn't matter much, but it would be nice if the eyecups had a lip on the outside diameter. Once you locate the sun, it will appear white with a slight yellow tinge. I didn't see any sunspots, but the sun may have been there at the exact time I was looking at it. Can't wait to try them out during the 2017 eclipse! Overall, this is a VERY affordable way to see the sun up close. They are of high quality designed and built and worth their money for the curious and serious observer.
