I tried Caddyview v2, Suaoki PF3 and now ProScope 400x. This one seems to be the best of the group. Optics give the picture undistorted, sharp and bright. The eye relief is just enough for me to see the whole picture when the rubber boot is pressed against my glasses. Distance measurements are almost instantaneous. I repeatedly pinned the flag off a par 3 tee about 30 feet from the green yesterday and got a consistent reading of 119 yards. After the pin was pulled, I repeatedly aimed for the cup and consistently hit 120 yards. I think it's pretty damn good and way better than what I could get with GPS. However, in pin lock mode, getting pins without retroreflectors at 170 yards or more was unreliable for me. I usually get readings at these distances, but they can be far off - I've missed the green several times due to poor readings. I could have worked better with the ProScope 400x if I knew more about its technology. For example: 1. What is the diameter of the laser beam at 100 and 200 yards? (As for the lens, I assume it is the free diameter of the lens.) 2. Is the beam Gaussian shaped in these areas? How exactly is the beam aligned with the monocular reticle? If there is angular offset to compensate for parallax, how much does it cost?4. Part of the grid is a small rectangular box centered on the intersection of the horizontal and vertical medians. Why isn't this box square?5. If the beam were visible, at what distance would its projected image just fit inside the box? 6. Does rangefinder roll orientation play a role in setting the pins?7. How long does the beam actually have to be held on the pin (or flag) for the range finder to determine its distance? Does the color of the flag affect its sensitivity? I need a range finder to be reliable at the total distance from my rider (250 yards) plus my wedge (120 yards). I haven't found a laser rangefinder that can do this yet (although I haven't tried anything over $150). I can return it and go back to GPS.
