I purchased this unit to replace a broken screen door latch that was several years old. I was able to install/run this replacement latch, but it wasn't without problems. The problem was that in universal kits like this one, not all parts could be sized to fit the needs of an existing door lock installation. In my particular case, two pieces of latch kit were not properly sized for what my particular screen door latch setup required (although those pieces would likely work in a different screen door latch setup). As a result, I was unable to properly install this latch using only the parts included in this kit. However, these two pieces (not the right size for my needs) still worked with my old (broken) latch and were compatible enough with this latch to be used. As a result I was able to fit this new door latch (using mostly new parts but with some parts recycled from the old latch). And the resulting latch now works correctly and seems more solid than the old/broken latch I removed from the door. Not bad for a replacement lock kit that costs less than $9!
