Structural Ironworkers Beer Thirty Hood Review.

I am a locksmith. I have put this hood through some abuse in the past week since I received it. This is the best economy hood (not Nexgen or Speed Glass) I've used. I've used it indoors and outdoors. I didn't light it up while welding. The clarity of the picture before the arc is ignited is amazing (read that there is no trace of the arc outside the welding area). My complaints aren't really the hood's fault. The supplied headgear does not work with the helmet. I used Jackson Halo. I can attach the hood to my helmet but the hood keeps sliding down until the nose piece is pressed against my nose. Side lenses are fine when you're welding outdoors, but when you're welding below decks or in tight spaces the flash hits pretty hard. (I solved this problem by cutting out two new #11 gold lenses I had laying around, works like a charm). I like this hood for my work. It works great, is convenient and very affordable. Is it Nexgen, Speed Glass or Esab? no Did it cost me $400? no If I drop one of those hats off the iron and it breaks on a beam, will my day be ruined? no It's inexpensive, but not cheap. I don't play around with the hood, I work with it like other instruments. I would take a picture of it, but it's hanging in my drawer at work and I don't allow phones at work.
