I tile the master bathroom with my father - he has done tiles before but this is my first tiling project. We use 12" x 24" tiles which we found quick to lay with no edges. We started with the shower screen, which was even more difficult due to the waterproofing membrane we applied to the cement board - there was a slight difference in thickness that made the stickiness worse. This prompted me to look for a venting system. It was immediately apparent how effective this system was. As each wedge was placed, you could see how the tiles lined up. I went ahead and bought some tongs that were worth the extra $10. They stuck all of those wedges into the clamps with ease. I'm not sure the wedges would have been as effective without the power of the pliers - the grout we used made a really strong bond straight away and the pliers were able to lift the tile a bit which was sometimes necessary to level the tile. Removing the tops of the clips after tiling could sometimes be a problem as the grout seeped a bit around the clip which was difficult to avoid. At first I nearly took off a star just because of the frustration of digging out the little bits of plastic that were left in the mortar unless they broke off perfectly. However, after I started wiggling the clips back and forth like a loose tooth a few times before hitting them, they began to break off more noticeably. Be careful though - even if they break off well, there will still be plastic plugs in the joint; We haven't cemented it yet so I don't know if that will be an issue, but in some cases I took the extra time to remove as much plastic as possible. Unfortunately I had a couple of chipped edges that I had to pry out clips that didn't come off cleanly - I used a spatula, rubber mallet and fine diamond tipped file to knock the bits out. Another annoyance was that they don't sell replacement clip packs. My bathroom is large and we tile the floor, shower and bottom third of the walls. We're about 2/3 of the way through and the clips are over; I assumed I could only get a packet of clamps since the wedges are reusable, but they don't seem to offer that. I have to buy the full set again to get enough clips to complete. I know other sellers offer replacement clamps but I was hesitant to believe they would fit; Considering they cost the same as this system, I just went ahead and got the full set back. My final verdict: I can no longer imagine laying tiles, especially large ones, without these levels. Considering how much I spent remodeling this bathroom, the cost of this system is almost non-existent, but the improvement in the quality of your finished project is worth every penny. I wish I had used them to begin with, but my stupidity just proves to you that this system makes a measurable, visible difference. I can't recommend her more.
